Floppy disks? What are floppy disks? |
|
A very good product that is more than worth what I paid for it. Besides the value its also a quality item and as the other reviewer said has made my floppy drive redundant. The only thing I use it for is transferring files from the desktop PC to my laptop as the desktop is the one connected to the internet and there are many downloads/files that are to big for a floppy or you may simply have a lot of files to transfer thus saving you a considerable amount of time. As long as your not running Windows 98 youll have almost no need for the cd that comes with it, you simply plug it into the usb port and it installs itself. Its only minus point(and its a fairly minor one) is that the switch that activates/de-activates the write protection is very small and youll need something very small(about pin head size) to get to it.

The Best Available |
There are many USB storage devices around, all with extra features and for different reasons. Some are for music, some are wireless devices, and some are for general purpose. This ByteStor one is extremely difficult to find in shops (I never have), which is a shame, because it is the best one available for general purpose. You can store 128Mb of whatever you like on this version, and easily transfer it between any computer (Windows-based or Apple Mac) as long as you have a USB port free. It comes with an installation CD for the drivers, but this is only needed if you have Windows 98 or earlier. I have tried simply plugging this device into a Windows XP, Me, 2000 and a Apple Mac computer running Mac OS 8.6, and it recognises it instantly, and shows up as an additional drive (for example, Drive F) on the computer. This device fits onto a keyring for increased convienance, and is smaller than the majority of other USB storage devices. All in all, a device which stores 128Mb worth of files on a small rectangular shape, and is instantly compatible with the high majority of computer systems (the others need the installation of drivers - CD supplied). Simplicity personified.

Works 100% in usb port, use in my win 2000 without any need for drivers, just plug it in when the computer is booted up. Go to my computer and there is the drive ready for use, use it to work from as its faster than a hard drive of course,,, transfer all the files you like to your laptop without the need for cables anymore,, magic! Floppy drives at 1.44MB are for the scrap heap now for sure. When finished right click the icon in bottom right of screen and follow instructions before unplugging. Also downloaded the bytestor win 98 driver for a friend, and thats works 100%. Item was delivered faster than fast. What more can I say.
